Deutsche Bank has hired Louis Wolfe to be chairman of its financial institutions investment banking group (FIG).

Wolfe was most recently president and head of Merrill Lynch's Asia-Pacific/Australasia investment banking business based in Hong Kong. Before that, he was chief operating officer and co-head of FIG at the US bank.

He accepted voluntary redundancy from Merrill late last year. Deutsche has been building up its FIG group for some time. Last October, Deutsche hired Gregg Sando from UBS Warburg as global head of FIG and brought in other senior bankers.
