FR. EDWARD LEWIS, 44, a Sacramento diocesan priest, has resigned following accusations of sexual misconduct with a woman. Sacramento Bishop William Weigand ordered that the resignation be announced at all services March 10 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church where Lewis was pastor. In the neighboring Fresno diocese, a 16-year-old girl has accused a Hanford, Calif., priest of rape. Fr. Miguel Flores, 34, of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, has been released on a $70,000 bond and charged with rape and intimidating a witness.
