With Tax Day right around the corner, those who procrastinate might want to take a trip to their local library for some last- minute help.

A free tax-counseling service is available to low-income people in the greater Elgin area.

The Tax Counseling Project is one of several financial literacy programs offered by the Center for Law and Human Services, a not- for-profit group that currently offers free tax preparation assistance at 25 locations.

The project in Elgin is offered at the Gail Borden Public Library at 200 N. Grove Ave.
