WALNUT CREEK, Calif. _ California gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon Jr. is scheduled Wednesday to discuss with President Bush how the White House can assist his campaign.
The meeting in the Oval Office demonstrates the continued efforts of Simon, a Republican, and Democratic Gov. Gray Davis to boost their election campaigns with out-of-state star power.
It shows as well the intense interest the White House is taking in the race.
Vice President Dick Cheney is expected to attend the meeting, said Simon spokesman James Fisfis.
