NEW DEVICE REDUCES PAIN, LENGTH OF HOSPITAL STAY
CLEVELAND, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mt. Sinai Medical Center has introduced a new device designed to relieve pain, reduce swelling and shorten the length of hospital stay for orthopaedic surgery patients.
The device, called a Hot/Ice machine, is comprised of pads which surround the injured knee or hip with a constant blanket of coldness thereby becoming a high-tech "ice pack." The pads are connected through a hose to a machine which keeps them at a continuous cold temperature of approximately 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
