A lawsuit was filed in mid-February in San Francisco Superior Court to block construction of the new M.H. de Young Memorial Museum in Golden Gate Park [see "Front Page," Apr. '01]. Designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the scheme has been likened to a 1960s Las Vegas motel by the citizens group People for a New de Young.
