WASHINGTON -- A visit to Martin Baumann's farm perched on a mountain overlooking the Swiss alps and the city of Lucerne, makes one almost expect the legendary Swiss character Heidi to walk in.
Baumann has 15 cows, and sells most of the milk to cheese manufacturers. Baumann said that during a recent visit to New York when he bought a Deli sandwich, the waitress asked him if he wanted Swiss cheese on it.
"It was American cheese with holes but called Swiss," he said. Baumann insists the original tastes better, but he admits that American "Swiss" cheese is far cheaper than Swiss "Swiss" ...
