For a lot of people, "retirement" can be one of the busiest periods of their lives. That has most certainly been the case with former President Jimmy Carter. The plain-spoken peanut farmer from Plains, Ga., has certainly led a most interesting life, and he only seems to become more active with each passing year.
Since his troubled, one-term presidency, Carter has drawn praise from even his harshest critics for his tireless diplomatic and humanitarian work. If he's not building houses for the homeless, he's monitoring elections in some war-torn Third World country or writing another best-selling book.
