Ready for thumb fun?
A study in nine cities around the world has found that young people have superthumbs.
It seems habitual use of mobile phones, video games and other hand-held information-age gadgets has created not only stronger but also more dexterous thumbs among the 25-and-younger crowd.
The six-month study, conducted by the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit of Warwick University in England, also said the thumb is supplanting the forefinger. The younger generation is relying more on the superthumb for such traditional tasks as ringing doorbells, pointing at things and even picking one's nose.
