Apr. 13--Luis Sabines, the brash president of the Latin Chamber of Commerce (CAMACOL) who worked more than two decades to help immigrants and small businesses in need, died Friday morning in his Miami home after a massive heart attack. He was 84.
The streetwise Sabines, a grocer by trade, rubbed elbows with politicians -- from commissioners to governors to Latin American leaders and everyone in between. He lent a hand to countless people looking to start new businesses or jump-start struggling ones.
