According to "Jordan Times", the loans extended to commercial banks by the Jordan Mortgage Refinance Company (JMRC) in 2001 amounted to JD60.7 million, a company official said. The JMRC Managing Director Zuhair Khalifah said the loans were used by these banks to refinance the credits they extended to their clients for housing purposes. According to Khalifah, the last refinance loan was concluded with the Jordan National Bank (JNB), which amounted to JD2.5 million with an interest rate of 6.45 per cent.
