Do you have a sick day policy for teleworkers in your employee manual?
Every morning, the members of Todd Hollander's remote team check in by phone. Recently, a worker reported he was sick but wanted to work through the day anyway. Hollander agreed.
The next day, the employee said the same thing. Again, Hollander agreed.
On the third day, Hollander suggested the worker take a sick day and visit the doctor. Two days later, after a round of medication and some much-needed bed-rest, the employee was back at his desk.
