COLONIAL records identified this event as the "Philippine Insurrection against the United States.'' For six decades, this misleading title stood uncorrected until Historian Teodoro Agoncillo published his book entitled Malolos: The Crisis of the Republic (University of the Philippines Press, 1960) and made the necessary correction. Professor Agoncillo called this event the "Filipino-American War.''
