The Lane County Boundary Commission has annexed the Santa Clara site of a controversial proposed housing development into Eugene, and neighbors who oppose the project vowed to continue fighting to preserve the area for flood control and park use.
The 9 1/2 -acre site at the end of Wendover Street between River Road and the Willamette River had been a tree-covered parcel surrounding the Santa Clara Waterway slough until the owner, the Huling family of Eugene, cleared trees after a February windstorm.
