Apr. 16--The state panel that oversees Massachusetts drugstores seldom punished pharmacists for making mistakes in dispensing drugs even when the error endangered patients, state records indicate.
The seven-member Board of Pharmacy took disciplinary action against pharmacies or pharmacists in only about 10 percent of the 377 error investigations it completed in the last three years, a Globe analysis found. All 11 cases involving prescription drug mistakes that threatened or harmed patients' health were dismissed without any punishment for the pharmacists involved, according to state ...
