Planting 83,000 flower bulbs is no easy task.
But that's exactly what 120 volunteers did last November at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle.
Now, with the arrival of spring, there's a great deal of anticipation about just how the floral display will turn out.
Dick Winans of Glen Ellyn says he expects the flowers emerging this month from a meadow on the east side of the arboretum to be "glorious."
Winans and Jack Barber of Wheaton co-chaired the committee that raised $23,000 from 420 volunteers to fund the project.
Both men are longtime arboretum members.
