In December, health advocates started a campaign to end smoking among pregnant women.
Cheryl Healton, president of the American Legacy Foundation states that about 13 percent of pregnant women admit they smoke, but she believes the actual number is much higher because women are ashamed to admit that they smoke while pregnant.
Television ads starring governors' wives urging pregnant women to stop smoking are being run in sixteen states.
