Apr. 18--Rodger Wasson, chief executive of the Almond Board of California for the past decade, is leaving to take a similar post with the California Strawberry Commission.
While Wasson's announcement surprised Almond Board officials, it was not entirely unexpected.
The executive maintained a high profile and had a good reputation among leaders of agricultural marketing boards, said Ned Ryan, Almond Board chairman and a partner of Ryan-Parreira Almond Co., a Los Banos almond sheller and shipper.
