Onondaga County fire investigators Wednesday said a Pompey house fire that killed two firefighters was caused by a spark that ignited either dust or lint from a nearby clothes dryer vent.
The investigators ruled the fire on March 7 was accidental, but they could not pinpoint what caused the spark, said Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh. Sheriff's detectives worked with county fire investigators on the case.
Investigators found two possible sources for the spark: an electrical system or cutting metal rebar with a grinder.
