Radar and Satellite Imagery in Insect Pest Control
Remote sensing, and in particular radar and satellite imagery, have been employed in the management of insect pests. To date, most of the emphasis has been on the use of radar, rather than satellite imagery. Radar has been especially useful in the study of insect migration patterns. A finding of practical importance is that insects in migratory flight become dispersed, but that wind convergence provides a mechanism of reconcentration which may lead to damaging infestations.
