I venture to say that most visitors to the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu feel some sense of mystery and awe about God, the human capacity, and ancient life. The experience of this citadel at 8000 feet in the Andes Mountains of Peru is something that needs to be absorbed slowly. The key vista encompasses one of the most beautiful natural places and one of the most fascinating human creations on our planet (image #1). The initial view takes your breath away. As photographers we are likely to struggle to translate the beauty and the mystery of Machu Picchu to images that justify it, and miss simply "soaking up" its grandeur for ourselves.
