Halle Berry and Denzel Washington entered Hollywood's record books with their historic best acting wins at the 74th Annual Academy Awards.
Berry's win for the critically acclaimed Monster's Ball made her the first Black female to ever win an honor in the best actress category.
Washington's win for his role as the rogue, veteran narcotics officer Det. Sgt. Alonzo Harris in Training Day was also historic. The win makes him the first Black to have earned the prestigious statuettes for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. In 1989, he was named Best Supporting Actor for his role as Army soldier Private Trip in Glory.
