There was no brilliant pitching gem this time. Not from the Dodgers, anyway.
The Dodgers came into Sunday's game riding a four-game winning streak on the muscle of unflappable closer Eric Gagne and a starting rotation without Kevin Brown.
But it was San Diego's Brett Tomko who threw the dominant game at Dodger Stadium. Tomko struck out a career-high 13 as the Padres avoided a series sweep with a 5-0 victory over the Dodgers in front of 48,469.
It was the fourth shutout against the Dodgers this season.
