In Woods Harbor, Nova Scotia, Dixon's Marine Group recently sent the largest semiplaning boat it has built into the water, the fiberglass 50' x 22' x 4' 6" Fundy Spray 2001. The boat's owner is Joel Goodwin of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He uses the Fundy Spray to longline for swordfish in the summer, tub trawl for groundfish in the fall and lobster in the winter.
The hard-chine hull of the Fundy Spray 2001 was built from a split mold. The hull was lengthened with a 5-foot extension added to the stern and widened from 16 feet, 8 inches to 22 feet.
