The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority is a well-run, quietly effective body that lacks a visible constituency and yet, by its efforts, provides local companies with a vital transportation link that helps protect thousands of jobs in Northeast Ohio. In order for the Port Authority to continue to do its job well, we urge Cuyahoga County voters to approve a 0.13 mill renewal levy for the port on the May 7 ballot.
Approval of this levy should be a no-brainer. It is not a new tax, but would continue a tax that for the average homeowner in Cuyahoga County would remain a minuscule 37 cents a month - less than the price of a candy bar.
