DOES the idea of travelling with young children make you feel exhausted? You are not alone. Many families with toddlers often avoid taking holidays with them - more so than at any other time during their child's development - because of the aggravation they might expect.

This is a pity, as these parents are missing one of the most rewarding times to travel with their child.

I spent 18 months interviewing parents and children about their travels for my book Have Toddler Will Travel (Hodder Mobius, ?10). The aim was to identify the most appropriate holiday options for this challenging age group, and where the problems lie.
