Two years ago, credit unions in Georgia started asking their state trade group how it could help meet customer demand for small-business loans.
Most of Georgia's credits unions -- like the majority in the country -- had little experience in business lending and were hesitant to go it alone.
That's when Ralph Jones, executive director with the Georgia Credit Union League, learned about National Cooperative Bank. The Washington company specializes in lending to cooperatives and had just established a business-lending program for credit unions.
