The U.S. Census of year 2000 tells us that there are 70 million Americans in the age brackets between 40 and 65 years. Around the age of 40, Presbyopia is starting to affect most people, and consequently most of these 70 million people will require reading glasses. Some people require prescription reading glasses and others are not in need of safety glasses. However, about 5 million Americans in the workforce will actually need the combination of safety glasses and reading glasses. The population pyramid is already top-heavy, and the proportion of older workers is going to continue to increase during the foreseeable future.
