SNPE says it still plans to reopen its three plants at Toulouse, France that were damaged by a fatal explosion at the adjacent site of Grande Paroisse last September. Grande Paroisse recently said it would not reopen its plant (CW, April 17, p. 8). SNPE's Toulouse operations consist of a phosgene derivatives plant, an agchems unit operated by its Tolochimie subsidiary, and a pharmaceutical intermediates plant operated by the company's Isochem subsidiary. The Isochem unit was commissioned in 2001.
Reopening SNPE's Toulouse plants requires approval from the French government, however, and it is not clear when that decision would be made, the company says. Any ...
