Apr. 27--SOUTHLAND TITLE ENTITIES ARE SETTLING REBATE ALLEGATIONS: Southland Title Corp., Southland Title of Orange County and Southland Title of San Diego have agreed to pay $2 million to settle civil charges that they gave illegal rebates to real estate agents in exchange for title-insurance business, the state Department of Insurance said Friday. The state accused Southland of offering real estate agents gift certificates, concert tickets, vacation packages and holiday parties, among other inducements.
