Sheer Madness
LOS ANGELES -- Over the years, chiffon has come and gone, achieving one-hit wonder status for a season or two before disappearing again.
It's been hot for several seasons now, and local runways offered the whispery fabric as a refreshing fall alternative to an overdose of panne velvet. This time, California designers, retailers and fabric wholesalers agree that -- like rock 'n' roll -- it's here to stay.
Carole Little, whose career-oriented sportswear is expected to reap $180 million in sales this year, said, "I feel positive about all sheers. There are many ways to wear chiffon, depending on how brave you are."
