Apr. 30--WASHINGTON--New England dairy farmers would be in line for generous subsidies, similar to those provided under the now-defunct Northeast Interstate Dairy Compact, as part of a massive farm bill moving toward a final vote in Congress. This time around, however, the nation's taxpayers, rather than local milk processors, would foot the bill for the dairy supports.
