Apr. 28--WASHINGTON--The deal between the corporate owners of a Denver Superfund site and the Environmental Protection Agency was agreed to before Christie Whitman became EPA administrator, according to documents obtained by The Denver Post, throwing cold water on allegations she crafted a "sweetheart deal" for her husband's former employer.
Based on those documents, Whitman spokesman Joe Martyak said "it's hard to speculate that she had some kind of influence over the decision."
