NTT Access Network Service Systems Laboratories has developed chip sets for the high-speed wireless local area network (LAN) standard IEEE802.11a, using the 5.2 GHz band.
The chip sets are composed of two chips, a baseband processing LSI chip and an intermediate frequency (IF) LSI chip.
NTT devised the base technology of the IEEE802.11a standard jointly with US-based Lucent Technologies Inc, and has already trail-built the wireless access equipment which fully complies with the new standard. It is the first time that NTT has gone as far as to develop the standard-compliant LSI chip sets.
