For three days last week, Madison was the center of the cheese industry.
Over 1,800 visitors came to the International Cheese Technology Exposition at the Alliant Energy Center to hear about the latest in cheese research, look at the exhibits of gleaming stainless steel equipment and high tech devices and software. And, to talk with each other.
The event was hosted by two groups, one old, one fairly new: the Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association (111 years old), and the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research (less than 20 years old).
The "gathering of cheesemakers" happens only every other year and while it quietly moves ...
