The 102-year-old Kilgour Fountain on the esplanade in the middle of Erie Avenue at Hyde Park Square is showing it's age.

Cracks have appeared in the round basin, the old lighting system needs updating, and stains and wear caused by leaking water need to be repaired.

The fountain was last repaired in 1976, and the last 26 years have brought new woes for the Greater Cincinnati landmark.

''The fountain and the little park there really set the tone for Hyde Park Square,'' said Lee Ault Carter, great-grandson of Lee Ault, who donated the land for Ault Park. ''We need to fix it up, to renovate it.''
