Wacker Specialties, the recently renamed [euro]529 million ($460-million)/year specialties subsidiary of Wacker-Chemie (Munich), says it will expand its polymers and fine chemicals businesses. Wacker Specialties is the leading producer of redispersible polyvinyl acetate (PVA) powders, used mainly in construction. The company will open technical centers in Moscow and Dubai within the next few months, says Wilhelm Sittenthaler, executive v.p./specialties. The centers will help Wacker Specialties expand the PVA powders business in Eastern Europe and the Indian subcontinent, says Sirtenthaler. The company opened a center at Shanghai in 2000.
