A new markup language is a benefit to everyone, from original author to final taxpayer.
The Standard Generalized Markup Language was created for the transmission of documents across different types of computer systems. The Department of Defense has adopted SGML for the Computer-Aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (CALS) program.
But what appears to be the first actual implementation of SGML in the federal government is now in place at the Internal Revenue Service, in a documents publishing application.
