As Cornell University professor Robert W. Venables lectured on the removal of Native Americans in the 1800s, he spoke of how the U.S. government removed so many from different states and made them live elsewhere.
Ohio, Mississippi and Illinois lost vast numbers of their native peoples. New York state's native population held steadier, and the proof sat before Venables in a classroom at LaFayette Junior-Senior High School this semester.
