NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT TO MAP PLANT

WASHINGTON, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Science Foundation has concluded an agreement with three other federal agencies to coordinate research efforts in the area of basic plant genetics.

To better understand the biochemistry, genetics, and physiology of plants, many researchers have already adopted the simple weed, Arabidopsis thaliana, as a model. NSF will now lead efforts to locate every gene in the plant and to determine the sequence of the nucleotide building blocks in each.
