Case Western Reserve University's School of Dentistry hopes to double its $6.5 million endowment within five years to provide more scholarships and increased general funding.
The school currently derives 91% of its annual income from tuition and clinic fees, said Christine Williams, the dental school's assistant dean and director of development. Having a larger endowment, ``will allow us not to have to raise tuition and live off the backs of our students and patients,'' she said.
Since Ms. Williams was hired 18 months ago, one of her main tasks has been defining how the dental school could increase its endowment, she said.
