The Skaneateles Planning Board plans to bring the town board in on discussions on whether to require water course easements from subdivisions.
"Water course easements is a policy issue," Planning Board attorney Mary Kendrick Gaffney told the planners at their April 29 meeting.
"You should get guidance from the town board," Gaffney said. "Ultimately, it's the town board that decides whether to accept an easement."
The planning board accepted her advice, but not without lengthy discussion over what the easements would accomplish and at what sacrifice of individual property rights.
