Re: "Legal bloodletting," (April 15). A hearty thank you to Candis McLean for bringing to light the largely hidden and unnecessary destruction of Canadian fathers. If 40% of maintenance-enforcement accounts have driver's-license restrictions, there is obviously something seriously wrong with this system. There are many accounts of children losing their fathers to suicide due to the heavy-handed approach of maintenance-enforcement agencies here in Canada and elsewhere. Their families are often reluctant to speak out because they don't want their loved one labelled a "deadbeat."
