STATE POLICE RELEASES ANNUAL CRIME REPORT

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania State Police today released the 1989 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), a numerical compilation of crimes of all categories reported to police agencies within the Commonwealth last year.

There were 948,320 reported offenses of all types in 1989, compared to 906,335 in 1988, a 4.6 percent increase.

Part I Crime Index offenses numbered 404,738, up 6.9 percent from the 1988 total of 378,756. The Part I category includes such crimes as murder, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny theft, motor vehicle theft and arson.
