JAMESTOWN -- JAMESTOWN - A new name, new buildings, new interactive exhibits and new archaeological discoveries will become part of the oldest permanent settlement in America, as Jamestown approaches its 400th anniversary.
The $30 million plan was announced Thursday by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities and the National Park Service. The changes - Phase II of a master plan totaling $60 million - will be funded by individuals, foundations, corporations and government sources. They will be phased in as funds are raised and as the anniversary approaches in 2007.
