Stora Enso's innovative use of high-tech barrier coating is gaining ground in the liquid packaging world. The company's patented Ensobarr coating has good barrier properties preventing the passage of steam, oxygen, aroma, and fat. Its EB Silver coating includes all of these properties, plus sunlight protection, creating new applications for paperboard cartons.
Already some South African wine brands have adopted Pure-Pak liquid cartons with EB Silver. Both Boland Wine & Brandy and Oranjerivier Wine Cellars launched paperboard wine cartons lined with EB Silver coating at the beginning of the year.
