RARITAN, N.J. -- A new survey reveals that one out of two Americans with diabetes have never heard of or know little about diabetic foot ulcers, a preventable and treatable condition that contributes to many of the 86,000 non traumatic lower limb amputations performed each year.
According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetic foot ulcers -- open sores that are difficult to heal -- will affect 2.4 million people, or 15 percent of the 16 million people with diabetes.
