"This was our best and final offer. We communicated that clearly to union leaders in negotiating sessions overnight Friday and early Saturday. We are disappointed that union leaders encouraged our employees to reject this offer.

"To avoid any further mischaracterization about the details of our final offer, let me be clear: This offer would provide every one of our employees with meaningful increases in wages and a long list of improved benefits. The package represents a 14 percent increase in total compensation, including a 4.7 percent average increase in wages.
