Soft-spoken Sid Hill is not a lecture-circuit kind of guy.
He says he's a better listener than a talker.
The spiritual leader of the six Iroquois nations hardly ever prepares a speech in writing.
But at 11 a.m. Monday, Hill will be on the world's stage, reciting, in Onondaga, the lengthy Thanksgiving prayer of the Iroquois and delivering, in English, a short welcoming speech to up to 700 strangers at United Nations headquarters in New York.
Hill will be appearing at the inaugural session of the U.N. Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
