HIS name was Leslie Charles Bowyer Yin, son of a Chinese surgeon and English mother, born in Singapore 95 years ago today. When he was seven he produced his first literary offering, a cartoon strip populated by tiny stick men - the sort kids always draw.
Years later one of those stick men became his symbol. This time, topped by a halo, it was - let's hear a couple of dramatic chords - the Sign of the Saint.
